  1. All my summer memories include the beach. I dream of the beach all the time, I would move to the beach ( if possible), if we don't make it to the beach, I still dream of the beach. If hubby ask where I want to go, I say the beach. Sea, sand and sun bring me home.

  3. Summer was always a time to visit family since we lived far away from them. Now its a time for my nieces to come to LA to visit family because THEY live so far away. Another week and they will be here. So it includes beaches, Disney, downtown garment district shopping, Hollywood Bowl, etc.

  7. My summer memories are really winter memories. :) I LOVE the beach and never got to go until I was a mother with small children. I have seasonal affective disorder, so a trip to the west coast of FL in January was better than best for me! :)

Speckled Egg is a great name for a shop! I'm off to look it over now.

  12. I'll put in a box the sight on my ever changing garden when I'm looking out the window of my veranda where I sit to create.

I could take photos of several moments in the year of that same spot that I see and enjoy the difference throughout the year.

i especially love the look I have now : it's green and the flowers are in bloom and the verandadoors can be openend, so I feel the breeze...

    greetings from Belgium

  15. Summer to be honest is not my favorite time. Yet I do have very fond memories when I was young. My mother would pack up all seven of us and would join her friend Louise for a day at Stoney Creek Metro Park. We would arrive just as the park opened, walk the trails, have cook-outs in the park, then swim at the beach until late in the afternoon. We would arrive home tried and sometimes burnt, but we had a lot of fun and looked forward to those precious weekly trips.

  16. From this summer I would use photos of our 4th of July trip to Mt. Rushmore--where it rained and was so cloudy that nobody could see the fireworks! It was miserable and disappointing but I know it's a trip we'll remember for years to come. :)

  18. Summer was when I stayed with my grandparents who owned a RANCH. Woo hoo! I brought home all kinds of cowboy stuff--a broken spur, small turtle shell, old Western style belt buckle, deer antler--I even found an arrowhead one year! Great experiences for a kid.

  19. I would of course start with some shells collected on the beach but then I would add a few photos, maybe dried flowers, a scrap of fabric from a blouse or dress I made or wore, a label from some fresh fruit, a recipe, a poem, a list of the books I had read - it would be summer in a box to be opened on the dreariest of winter days and savored piece by piece.

  23. Hi Heather & Karie, My tresure memory of summer is spending one week in July with my Aunt Min & Cuz' Bridget...they drive up from SC & VA to me in New Jersey so that we can go to Maine together and have some fun, relaxation & spend quality time with each other...I don't get to see them as much as I use to when they lived in Jersey, so this time spent together is worth more than diamonds & gold - its priceless...have a honey of a night! sweet dreams! 25. Thank you for helping me to remember a wonderful snipit - we went to the Russian River nearly every Summer when I was growing up. And one of my best memories is of me and my brother sitting on the rocky shore, eating snow cones - I can taste it as I write - and feel the heat of the of the stones and the see the cool green of the river. There is always laughter in the background in my memory. Lovely.

  28. My favorite summertime memory is our family visit to the fair. It's been a tradition in our family since my Mom was a little girl and it's something she did with me and I now do with my family.

Our favorite vacation place is Maine in the Fall, and we collect lots of lovelies while we search those rugged beaches. We would put in shells, interesting pebbles, sea glass, starfish, and even acorns, picked right off the beach! Magical!

  31. My favorite summer memories were as a child, spending three weeks at my grandparents house. They lived in the mountains. We would pick wild berries, my grandmother made jam with them. She also made homemade bread. Yummy!!!!!

  32. My summer memories do not involve travel, but as many here, it involves nature. I would put sounds into my memory box.. the sounds of crickets in the evening while lying in bed with the windows open.. the sound of the railroad tracks going clunkety clunk as a train passed and sometimes blew it's whistle. I would place a constellation in there as I recall looking up to the night sky and watching the twinkling .. but sky watching was not limited to the evening hours... mid day was just as great as i conjured up images from the clouds... I would also have to include a transistor radio.. i listened to many a summer song in the late 60's and early 70's... I remember fritos as a munchie... I do recall a few boat trips to the local river... we packed bologna and cheese sandwiches in the cooler and kool aid ... that included sunscreen and sunburns... and then there were the evenings spent at my grandma's house.. the kids in the pool.. the adults in the screen room... We used our imaginations .... the solar cover was a huge bubble dome.. probably a stretch from watching Get Smart!!! We would dive under it and end up the dome of silence...come to think of it, it did have a different sound in there!! I keep thinking of more things....lol, but i won't list them all... my most recent nature memories are from the frogs singing at night near our home in the rainwater filled ditches. They are across from a corn field... it's so countryish!!!

I am sure i can find things to represent all of those memories if i needed something concrete to put into a memory box.. but nothing can beat the sights and sounds or for that matter, the scents of summer... ah... i love to smell my moonflower vines!!!

  34. My summer memories are of the beach....now my parent's home: Ormond Beach, Fl. A little slice of heaven! I would include many wonderful photos of my children from when they could barely toddle in the sand, to building sand castles, to skim boarding and boogie boarding in the ocean. Best of all is the time with my parents, and my dad's cooking especially fresh fish.

  35. the kids running through the sprinklers, chasing the ice cream truck, having a lemonade stand...the adults sitting and sipping on the porch, BBQ, flea markets, and FLIP FLOPS!
